Beginning April 1, 2010, Cisco will allow Cisco 360 Learning Program students who attend a Cisco CCIE® Routing and Switching or CCIE Voice workshop to request a waiver and skip the  Core Knowledge Section  of the CCIE lab exam.  All waiver requests must be approved by the workshop instructor.  No end date for the Core Knowledge Waiver has been announced, but Cisco will provide at least 60 days’ notice before discontinuing the waiver. During a Cisco 360 Learning Program workshop, students complete a series of performance assessments that demonstrate their understanding of the CCIE material and serve the same purpose as the Core Knowledge section of the exam.  Therefore, Cisco 360 Learning Program students who use the waiver will not be required to type out answers to the Core Knowledge questions and will be allowed to move immediately to the next section of the lab exam. 在我還沒有考上R&S CCIE之前一直有個夢想可以參加一次Cisco Networker，好好地看一下台灣以外的世界級研討會到底是個什麼樣子? 終於去年VUE辦的Instructor rewards的獎品讓我眼睛為之一亮(感謝Chris熱心宣傳，不然我根本連參加資格都沒有，自己主動去跟VUE爭取要求參加這個instructor rewards活動)，因為頭獎就是Cisco Networker 2009免費門票，經過許多同學的幫助終於讓我如願以償(魚幫水，水幫魚囉)! 不過VUE真的是一個動作反應慢三拍的公司，我算了一下，光是我追這個Cisco Networker 2009 Promotion code大概就發了超過10封(而且我後來還加了一些cc給VUE的其他窗口)，VUE大概只回了3封，不過好事好磨，終於在今天早上收到了確認信，因此馬上給它去註冊了。 不過在註冊的過程中發生了一個小插曲，那就是在註冊的過程中如果選取了CCIE資格反而就沒有辦法看到AU$0.0的選項，所以後來只好暫時不選取CCIE資格先完成免費註冊程序再補通知Cisco Networker主辦單位了(為什麼要輸入CCIE的資料呢，因為Cisco Networker通常會有一場CCIE Meeting大會，只開放給Active狀態的CCIE參加，可以直接跟大頭面對面談話，也可以領到CCIE Logo的紀念品。而且最酷的是你的英文全名及CCIE號碼會被打在跑馬燈上喔~) http://www.cisco.com/web/ANZ/cisconw/attendees/ccie/index.html 完成了註冊程序之後就立刻收到了一封回信，信件中的附件就是Cisco Networker註冊Invoice資料。有人說最近去參加賑災可以領到高鐵車票，上面寫著NT$0。小弟也是一樣，收到一份AU$0.0的收據憑證。 至於後續的Cisco Network 2009花絮就等我到時再慢慢分享給各位吧!

看來大陸同胞們無法再飛到其他國家去考CCIE Lab來逃避CCIE Lab口試了，未來的CCIE Lab全面加上了口試至少可以保證CCIE的產出有一定的水平，不過這對東方人來說也許只是增加新的題庫而已，呵，事實上北京那邊的口試題目已經被大陸同胞們整理的差不多了，只要是有制式題目及答案的話，應該還是"上有政策，下有對策"。 Effective February 1, 2009, Cisco will introduce a new type of question format to CCIE Routing and Switching lab exams. 其實上個月就已經收到了，不過一直沒有空去把它拍照起來，今天趁著空檔時間把它拍了一張照片，現在擺放在TP的大廳裏，跟舊版的CCIE獎牌比起來大小尺寸差了一大截(我想成本應該可以節省不少)，不過相較舊版的CCIE獎牌感覺上比較有質感，背面也預留了可以掛到牆上的掛孔(之前舊版的CCIE獎牌只預留給你裝裱的幾條凹槽)。 不過今年2009年Cisco準備全面更換新Logo，所以我想CCIE獎牌也會跟著再次改版吧!

今天早上一進辦公室就看到我桌上多了一份國外寄來的包裹，拆開時沒注意我還以為是我的CCXP的證書，不過仔細看一下多了一個logo，原來是CCIE的證書…我記得我2003年拿到的證書logo還是鍍金的，現在什麼都不鍍了，只剩墨汁，嗯，我只能說Cisco推動環保不遺餘力… 為什麼我一開始會以為是CCXP的證書呢? 因為從包裹中掉了一張信用卡下來，呃，不是，是一張很像信用卡的塑料卡片，背後翻過來看還有真的是可以刷卡讀資料的區域。今年年中我剛考完CCIP，那時Cisco也寄了一張一模一樣的卡片給我，不過到現在還是不了解那張卡片是要幹嘛的…。 不過目前還沒收到新的CCIE塑膠獎牌，聽說是比以前剛開始的CCIE"墓碑"好看一些…自從CCIE銅牌獎牌被換成塑膠獎牌之後很多人都在抱怨，花了這麼一大筆的考試費用(Written + Lab + Travel expense)，結果只得到這些廉價的東西有時覺得很沒價值，Cisco這麼多年來仍然沒有針對大家的意見進行調整，看來Cisco跟一些政府機構也是差不多，聽不到人民的聲音，只是自顧自的往前走向"錢"看!

最近Cisco宣布了CCIE行動考場，也就是可以到處提供CCIE(Routing & Switching) Lab，造福想出國考試但沒錢買機票的考生，不過我看了一下，以下的考場地點還是沒有台灣…so，僅供參考，另外一點我很好奇的就是到底要如何book 這些行動考場 lab seat呢??? Cisco官網上說要找當地的Business Development Manager聯繫…我想這些Manager會接到手軟…難道Cisco不知道有多少人在等位子嗎? Cisco has revised its CCIE Security lab exam to validate the skills needed by senior security network specialists in their job roles. Cisco has refreshed the exam with the latest Cisco equipment and software to mirror the job knowledge and skills needed by security professionals. Policy Change to Payment for CCIE Labs In effort to improve the availability of CCIE lab exams Cisco has updated the CCIE lab payment process. On September 6, 2008 the payment policy for CCIE labs will be as follows: Payment in full is due 90 days (calendar) prior to your lab date. Payment must be received to confirm your date. After 90 days refunds will not be available for canceled lab dates. The change in this policy will allow for lab seats to be open in a timely manner and create more desirable time frames. If you have questions or want to confirm you are within the 90+ day window please contact customer support . This is good news as it should open up more lab dates 90 days out as opposed to 30 days out.

22 AUG 2008: On Sept 24 2008 CCIE labs will no longer support using the UniversCD documentation for the lab exam. All labs are migrating to Cisco Documentation only. For those scheduled to take the CCIE lab prior to Sept 24 access will still be available for UniversCD. The Cisco Documentation pages have the same information that currently resides on UniversCD, please refer to the links on the CCIE web pages to view these pages and become familiar with the new format. After Sept 24 2008 only the Cisco Documentation web pages will be available for CCIE labs.
